Travel service and analytical agency TourStat found out which mountain resorts in Russia and the CIS countries are most popular with tourists for hiking in the mountains (trekking).
The rating of resorts for trekking is compiled according to the reservation of hotels for accommodation in the summer season, taking into account infrastructure and transport accessibility.
The top 10 most popular trekking resorts and places for mountain hiking in Russia and the CIS countries include Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi), Chimbulak (Kazakhstan), Shahdag (Azerbaijan), Dombay (Karachay-Cherkessia), Crimean mountains (Crimea), Katunsky ridge (Gorny Altai), Elbrus region (Kabardino-Balkaria), Sheregesh (Kemerovo region), Khibiny (Murmansk region) and Karakol (Kyrgyzstan).
According to TourStat, the mountain resorts of Sochi, which are visited by more than a million tourists in the summer, are not only the most popular for trekking among Russians, but also the most affordable for the cost of leisure. An air ticket or train travel to Sochi will cost up to 10 thousand rubles per person, and accommodation with meals in mountain resorts – 5 thousand rubles per day for two. The mountain resorts of Sochi are 40 kilometers from Adler International Airport and from the Black Sea.
In Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi), the most popular resorts for summer holidays in the mountains are the Rosa Khutor and Gorki Gorod resorts. In addition to trekking at these resorts, for tourists in the summer there is a cable car ascent to the highest observation deck in Sochi (2320 meters), Nordic walking, running along mountain trails, horseback riding, quad tours, yoga, rafting, rope park, skypark, bike rental, a bike Pass, as well as beach vacations in the Imereti Bay.
