The choice of shoes for hiking is a topic of eternal debate among tourists. Over time, every novice tourist comes to some kind of opinion on this subject and, alas, often through blood corns and blood money spent. All of the following – IMHO, based on 15 years of experience walking in the Caucasus (an average of 2-3 months in the mountains per year).
First of all, I want to say that there is no universal shoe “for the mountains.” For different terrain you have to buy different shoes. Or suffer :) Let’s start with simple routes.
1. Shoes for summer trips along the near-Krasnodar routes, including the allowed routes along the Lagonaki and Adygea.
Take your sneakers. Even your old city sneakers or sneakers will do. The only thing – be sure to buy and put a felt insole – it will soften the sole, take away excess moisture. Be sure to take a spare pair of shoes – it can be durable sandals or another lightweight sneakers. They will be useful to you in the camp, during the throw-throw, as well as in case of destruction of the main running shoes.
Nuance – if you plan to hike along river beds, for example, waterfalls in the Gelendzhik region or canyoning, you will have to wet your sneakers and it is important to grip the surface. The time-tested option here are tecamphibians from the Salomon company. Expensive, but worth it.
2. Shoes for summer trekking in Arkhiz, Teberde-Dombay, the upper Laba, the subsoil of the KGBPZ and the heights of 2200-3500.
Light boots. I didn’t just highlight the word “lungs”! It is not necessary to take on these routes two-layer Assolo and other All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions of 4 kg / pair. The relief at these heights is simple (if you go 3+ hs hiking, you yourself know what to take) and enough light boots to protect yourself from accidental hits on stones and provide comfortable movement on moraines, rare snowfields and screes. If you live in a large city, then go to Decathlon or any other sports shop and ask for shoes for “easy trekking.” In the regions, you can order online or use special clothing stores. But remember – wartherz boots are the worst of the possible options. They were made not for convenience, but as “to be” and to last longer.
As a spare / camp shoe – sneakers from item 1.
3. Shoes for snow and / or winter.
So, you look at the forecast and understand that snow will fall or fall on the campaign. It is important to determine the temperature and topography.
a) a stable minus is expected all the time, there will be no positive temperature. Complex terrain or altitude above 3000m. Take high-quality boots for heavy trekking or well-insulated (with warm socks) boots without mesh inserts. As a spare shoe – item 2 or lightweight EVA boots.
